Service Pack 3 connection trouble

By Master Meng ·
i updated my win xp-pro with sp3 on july 7 and bang no internet connection...
Question: Is there a any setting that i need to change or anything else i should know about this update?
i looked for drivers for the nic, router, and modem, noting there just yet.

OK i checked the DNS and all the connection functions, no problem with them. it was the Firewall, ofcourse. seems that there is a change in sp3 that afects how all the DNS and Ports are assinged. so i got the update for the firewall and bang! it works.

thanks for your help, hope this helps anyone else that has problems with win xp SP3.

Go to Control Panel, Network and Internet Connections, Network Connections, right click on Local Area Connection, highlight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), click Properties, click on Use the following DNS server addresses and obtain from your ISP the DNS server addresses for the two boxes labelled Preferred DNS server and Alternate DNS server. Type in the IP Addresses, click OK and Close. Now try to connect to the internet.

Let us know how you get on.

The firewall was an add-on, called zonealarm.
seems that they updatd it soon after the patch. i wonder how may other programs this service pack effeted?
