Have cable internet. I downloded a XP SP and now I cannot get online using my cable modem. Can these SPs cause problems as far as "seeing" the internet? Might be a coincidence.Thanks.

Service Packs have been known to cause numerous problems.

You likely lost your network settings, or IE settings for the cable modem.

If you still have the install CD for the cable connection, you should be able to just re-run the installation program.

If not, you need to either call tech support for your ISP, and have them walk you through the settings, or, go to another PC with an active connection, and print out the installation FAQ from the ISPs web site.

If you are running Windows XP then try System Restore to some point before the SP date
