Service packs

A service pack is an accumulation of bug fixes, updated drivers and other improvements, icluding additional functionality, either for an operating system, or a program suite, like Microsoft Office.

It's needed to fix bugs discovered after the original software was released, to add new feature, and to improve performance in general.

Where you can find one depends on what you're looking for. For Windows or Office? Try Microsoft's site.
