Setting permissions on home folder

By permjit ·
Scenario: We have an active directory structure with over 400 users. They are connected to their respective home folders by using connect <drive letter> to?Share/folder (this is set in user properties). Due to a former problem with one of our cluster servers we have lost the security and permissions settings for ALL users on all the home folders. Currently all users have full access to all home folders (because the group everybody needs to have full access). How can we set user permissions on their home folder without clicking our way through 400 users??

I would remove full access for the Everyone group. This does NOT mean assign NO ACCESS. If a group is assigned NO ACCESS, NO ONE in that group will be able to access ANYTHING within that path. Just remove full access from the Everyone group and be sure each individual has full access to their full drive.

Create a batch file that uses cacls.exe to grant file and folders permissions to users. Just make sure you know what you are doing and run a test. You can lock *everybody* out of files and folders, including administrators, if you don?t.
