    Setting up a Network Printer

    Locked

    by joel.rahn ·

I work at a college campus in the IT dept. We are running Windows 2000 Pro on a domain with a printserver.

We have a number of computer labs that I would like the computers to automatically set up the network printer for that room.
We also use aprinter accounting system (Pcounter) on the print server.

We do not use roaming accounts (to cut on network traffic).

In other words, when a student logs onto the network in a computer lab and trys to print, it will print in that lab.

I know with XP there is a way to set a default user account. Is there something similar in Win2000 Pro?
Other methods that work are welcome.

In a WinNT/2000 environment; it works best for the individual workstation to do a “printer capture” from the workstation’s [add printer] screen. You might also print off the ‘steps’ to do that and post it for students to follow.
