setting up aol , freezes on access numbe

Hi,
Was wondering what could be the problem with setting up aol cd. I ran it only to freeze on the part that accesses the acess numbers it shows a black box , where numbers should be. It deteced the modem , and its correct on the port. Any ideas, would be greatly appreaciated.
