Hi!

This isn't and easy question to answer.

I would recommend you install rpmfind into your redhat system, then type:
rpmfind bind-chroot --latest
or if you don't want the chrooted bind.
rpmfind bind --latest

Also search on altavista for DNS-HOWTO and read it, it's to hard to describe how to set it up in this forum, besides the HOTOWS are great.

What are the rpm required ?
The only rpm that U ?ll need is:
Bind-8.2.2_P5-9.i386.rpm
And probably:
Bind-utils-8.2.2_P5-9.i386.rpm
Caching-nameserver-6.2-2.noarch.rpm

What dns files are needed ?
/etc/host.conf
/etc/named.conf
And somefiles in /var/named
if you want to sent some samples please email me
How do I add records to the files to resolve domain name ?
The domains in the file /etc/named.conf
And the hosts in file in /var/named

If you installed Redhat as a Server or with a custom install and select the correct packages, you should already have bind installed on your system. If not you will need to find it on your cd or download the latest RPM from Redhat and install it asmentioned above.

http://ctdp.tripod.com/os/linux/usersguide/index.html, section 44 explains the files used for DNS and how to configure it. Section 21 talks about how to install RPMs. Section 3 talks about the type of installation for Redhat. If you don't have it, the package is at:
http://www.redhat.com/swr/i386/bind-devel-8.2.2_P5-9.i386.html

With Red Hat 6.2, you should already have the rpm (Bind-8.2.2_P5-9.i386.rpm should come with the distribution).

Check out the DNS HOWTO from the Linux Documentation Project (http://www.linuxdoc.org/HOWTO/DNS-HOWTO.html). You might also try DNS Configuration under Linux at http://ieee.uow.edu.au/~mjp16/dns/index.html and BIND 8 Online Documentation at http://ieee.uow.edu.au/~mjp16/dns/bind_config/.
