Setting Windows Explorer to detail view

By KlaBenDa ·
This question was asked before but it wasn't answered:
How can I - when selecting, opening and saving files - set the "view menu" to always default to a "detail" view rather than an icon or list view.

Thanks a lot,

Daniel

Setting Windows Explorer to detail view

by Mehul Bhai In reply to Setting Windows Explorer ...

I presume you have Windows XP.
No need to do the registry settings, which may be dangerous if not done properly.
Here is a simple procedure. Open any folder on any drive of your system in either Explorer or My Computer. Now do the view settings you require from the "View" DropDown Menu. Now from the "Tools" DropDown Menu select "Folder Options". On the Menu which Pops-up select the "Views" Tab. In this Tab click on "Apply to All Foders". This will apply your view options to all Foders in your system. Remember to tic mark the "Remember each Folder's view Settings" box in the Advanced Settings below. This will help in ypur folders remembering the settings you have chosen.
