Shared mailbox setup

By cfrank01 ·
My co-worker and I both need to be able to have access to the same mailbox with the following conditions and need to know the best way to set it up (i.e. a Public Folder mailbox with restricted access or as a regular shared mailbox.)

We both will need to be able to send from this mailbox address (with the From: field showing it was sent from the mailbox's address NOT our personal mailbox).

We also want the items sent from it to appear in its own Sent Items container ( not our personal ones).

Need to be able to manipulate the folders and messages associated with this box.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You must have send as permission on user account that owns email recipient. In AD user account properties - security - advanced - add - choose the users who must send mail as. After that you must edit the line to must sure that Send as is selected to apply onto "This object only". Go to Exchange advanced -Mailbox rights - add users

The sending part of your request isn't hard. You can use either an email-enabled public folder or a mailbox. In either case, the user(s) need to be delegates (i.e., they need to have "send as" permission to the mailbox).

However, there is no way to have the items you send from a mailbox other than your own appear anywhere but in your own Sent Items folder. At least, not without creating some sort of advanced scripting or event sink that would do this for you. But natively in Outlook or Exchange 2003 there is no way to do this.

Hope this helps!
