Sharing an External Static IP address

By pilgrimbrian ·
Here is my situation,

I want to know if it is possible to share the static IP assigned from the ISP.

I have a branch office that has a timeclock that requires a dedicated external static IP address. I also have a Netscreen SSG5 Gateway Security that currently has the external IP assigned to it.

My only idea is as follows,

DSL Line to DSL Modem to DSL Router then from DSL Router branch to SSG5 and the time clock.

Will sharing the internet connection from the DSL router to 2 devices that have the same external IP address assigned to them work?

This is very urgent, so any help would be appreciated.

If this is not possible the only other solution is to buy another static IP from ISP which I want to avoid if possible.

Why does it (the timeclock) need an external address?

Can the DSL router NAT or PAT?

You can't have two devices assigned the same IP address.

The time clock manufacturer says that it requires it, although at all our other locations I have been able to put in on an internal IP. The other branches have Symantec security gateway 320 boxes. They don't make these anymore and I had to get the Netscreen SSG5 because it was the only thing compatible with the symantec system. On the SSG5 it is very complex in the setting and I can't figure out how to make it work with the time clock.

Best bet is

Best bet is to contact the mfr of the box. I haven't used that appliance. You should be able to set up some sort of translation to say that traffic coming in on this port goes to this ip address with the same port number...
