Sharing applications between an OS

By MavisA ·
I'd like to know if I can share the same set of applications between an OS let's say Windows XP PRO on a host machine, and another Windows XP Pro that is running under a Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 on the same host machine? Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Are you asking if it's possible to do, or are you asking if it's legal to do?

I want to know if it's possible and/or if it's legal to do so

Thats actually a good question, is it legal?

Don't most EULA's say you can have it installed on more than one machine at a time? Techincally a VM is the same machine, so by that it should be legal, however you technically have it installed twice....

Read the EULA carefully.

A VM is NOT considered the same machine depending on the software.

Vista Enterprise allows you to have the base install and up to 4 VM's running with one license for instance.

So what if you have two licenses for the OS, but one license for the application you wish to share, does the EULA need to specify it then?

maybe

I'd contact the MFR to see what they say. I wouldn't chance a $100,000 fine for a few hundred bucks...

Only if you get caught
