Sharing Calendar's with outside people

By stuart.douglas ·
I have OWA set up and was wondering if ther is a way of setting up a generic account so people can access it from outside but only get access to the calendar ie no inbox, public folder area etc as their is a security risk. Currently I'm running Exchange 2000.

The way I have done this is to create a public folder (i.e., in your case a public calendar folder). Then you have to create a generic logon for outside users so that they can access the folder - the logon has to have a mailbox, but once the mailbox is created you can hide it so that it cannot be used. You need to make sure, of course, that the logon you create has only guest-level access to the domain and can only see and open that one public folder.

The outside user(s) has to use a different web address:

http://[yourOWAserver]/public (rather than /exchange)

Hope this helps!
