SHARING: Network share not accessible. Do not have permissions.

By ronakpatel30 ·
I have read many posts on possible solutions to this problem for windows xp pro. Nothing has worked. I can view the computer over the network and but cannot access the files. Also, using my the same computer whose resources im trying to access, I cannot access them going through the workgroup to get to my files. I have tried to restricted anonymous settings in regedit as well as a few other things. Any ideas and information will help. Thanks.

I'm not 100% clear on what you are saying here but if you have several computers on a workgroup you need a user account with the same credentials on all machines in that workgroup in order to access files on them and that is assuming you are using windows xp home edition or something similar.

to a folder on the other pc to access your files, is your folder:
1. Shared?
2. If so, how are the permissions defined?

As stated in the previous post, you also need a account setup on the other pc if the folders are not shared.
