    by palak231 ·

    Hi this is Palak Sharma

Well I am developing a programming base web site and one of my friends suggested me that I need to focus on Web Analytics also which will help me to know behavior of user or tell me what kind of things peoples actually expect. I’m a newbie and I don’t know how these things actually work. I searched about it over the internet. I am learning about it but it is still not clear to me till now. I’m totally confused about the term Web Analytics. Can anyone give their precious suggestion on this. Will be a great support. Does Web Analytics really matter ?

Hoping to form some positive responses.

    thanks

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_analytics tells what it is. It’s up to you to determine if it’s useful for you and your (future?) website.

Personally I don’t see the necessity of learning about analytics before you have a website to analyse. But maybe your friend thinks differently. So I would suggest discussing your doubts with him.

Best of luck with your website. And see if the university where you study Computer Science and Engineering has a course about Web Analytics. That would certainly be useful if you want to know about it.

Keeping track of what users are doing on your website is critical to your marketing efforts. It can reveal your brand’s persona, describe your services, sell products, or educate customers. Every site has a goal; determining whether the site is meeting its objective depends on knowing what people are doing on it and whether they are interacting with the content.

      Traffic sources
Knowing how a user arrives at your website is partly determined by studying your traffic sources. What are the most successful marketing channels for your business? Try to identify them by studying your traffic sources.

      Visitor behavior and visitor segmentation
Knowing how different visitors use your website is crucial to gauging their overall behavior. To do this properly, you must divide your audience into distinct categories based on their behavior while using your website.

      Advertising Measurement
To track the success of your Facebook Ads campaign after people click through on the ad, make sure you use UTM parameters. You may use a resource such as Google’s Campaign URL Builder to set them up quickly.

If you learn about web analytics, it will surely help the development of the website.

      Hello Palak Sharma,

It’s great to hear that you’re delving into web development and seeking advice on whether to learn about web analytics. Web analytics is indeed an important aspect of website development, and it can provide valuable insights into user behavior and preferences. Here are a few points to consider:

Understanding User Behavior: Web analytics allows you to track and analyze user interactions on your website, such as the pages they visit, the duration of their sessions, and the actions they take. This information helps you gain insights into user preferences, identify popular content, and make informed decisions to enhance the user experience.

Data-Driven Decision Making: By leveraging web analytics data, you can make data-driven decisions about various aspects of your website, such as content strategy, design improvements, and optimization techniques. This can lead to better engagement, increased conversions, and overall success for your website.

Performance Evaluation: Web analytics provides you with metrics like bounce rate, conversion rate, and click-through rate, which help you evaluate the performance of your website and specific marketing campaigns. It enables you to identify areas that need improvement and make necessary adjustments to achieve your goals.

Personalization and Targeting: With web analytics, you can gather information about your audience’s preferences, interests, and demographics. This data can be used to personalize user experiences, offer targeted content, and tailor marketing strategies to specific segments of your audience.

In conclusion, while web development focuses on the technical aspects of building a website, learning about web analytics can complement your skills by providing insights into user behavior and helping you make data-driven decisions. It can significantly contribute to the success of your website and the satisfaction of your users. Investing time in understanding web analytics will likely prove beneficial in the long run.

Good luck with your web development journey, and feel free to ask if you have any further questions or need additional guidance.
