Shutdown Jboss server on Solaris 10 fails: naming.CommunicationException

By bluehaven32000 ·
I had installed Jboss 4.0.4 GA on a Solaris 10 machine and in order to test the installation, I executed commands to start and shut down Jboss server.

On executing the following command to shut it down:
./shutdown.sh -S

I have observed the following error

Exception in thread "main" javax.naming.CommunicationException: Could not obtain connection to any of these urls: localhost:1099 [Root exception is javax.naming.CommunicationException: Failed to connect to server localhost:1099 [Root exception is javax.naming.ServiceUnavailableException: Failed to connect to server localhost:1099 ]]

This message was not delivered to Anubhav Bisaria because it is too large:

Guessing it to be a problem of not able to find the port 1099, I tried to locate the process running over this port, but could not locate it.
I might be wrong but have left with no clues now. Any pointers would be helpful in this regard.

I am even not sure if the Jboss installation has been correct...

Thanks in advance.
