Shutdown Problems- Please Help

By GSweet ·
Hi,

My computer will not power off after going through the shut down sequence. The only way the computer will turn ON or OFF is by using the power switch in the back of the power supply. The regular power button in the front seems to do nothing.

Have checked the display settings, video card, and bios nothing seems to be wrong. Please help me to correct this problem.

System Specs: Currently using Biostar's M7VIB motherboard, ATI Rage 128 PRO video card, Athlon XP 1800 cpu, Window's XPHome edition, 512 ddr memory, 300watts power supply.

Shutdown problem

Do you have Roxio's Easy CD Creator 5 installed? If so, there is an update that you need to download and install in sequence from Roxio's site. They have instructions posted for you to follow. Also it seems that you cannot install Take Two under WinXP. I had this problem. I first checked Microsoft's site and read their posting on the problem. Hope this helps.

Have you checked the power switch lead from the case to the motherboard? ATX power supplies require this connection.

Simply hold down the front power switch for about 5 seconds and it should power off.
