Shutdown Shorcut Permissions?

By Trillion11 ·
Hi all,

The School i work in have asked for a "shut down shortcut" on all client desktops.
Ive created the shorcut and distributed it no problem, but when users try and use it it simply does nothing. Logged in as an Administrator it works no problem.

Could something need to be tweaked in active directory?

Server OS: Windows 2003 Server
All help greatly appreciated.

Matt

The item you have created may require Admin Rights to work

You need to test it on a system with Limited User Rights/Permissions to see if it works under those conditions.

If it's worked OK on your system with Admin Rights you could tweak AD and give everyone Admin Rights but I think you'll do better trying something else.

insure that both the shortcut and the program/script that it calls has user permissions.
If they are on a Domain then allowing Domain users permissions to Read, plus - Read & Execute, should be enough. If you have already deployed the shortcut you may want to either delete it and re-send with the proper credentials or look into CACLS to edit them.
