Simple PC - Setup for Email/HTML

By John M. F. Kallevik ·
Hi!

I have a small problem. I've got myself a small 386 based machine, that I plan to use as a ASCII-based programming/email-tool at my cabin.

My only problem is that I have no connection possibilities to the Internet there, so I need some means of getting my email there by floppy.

Do any of you have an idea of what software/mail-provider that can enable me to:

-Download messages to floppy
-Edit mail on standalone machine
-Upload edited messages

Since I plan to use this machinemainly for writing small tools and email while I am on holiday, I refuse to run Windows on this machine, to avoid irritation on vacation..:)

Any DOS/Linux suggestions would be appreciated, and I am a great fan of Freeware. :)

Anyone?

Export your messages but this will only work if you mailbox isn't too large.

Well, I sort of knew I had to export the mail, my actual question was relating to what software/type of mailservice/fileformat to use, to ensure a secure and easy way of doing this.

Don't be a cheapskate. Buy new and updated hardware and software. Run a T1 line to your cabin. You can have a lean and mean isolated internet and e-mail machine.

Depending up on the email program you are using. Example Netscape, you can copy the folders from the hard drive to the floppy or use a compression program to put them on several disks and then take them to the other computer and then uncompress/copythem to that hard drive and use the same program there to create drafts and then repeat the process the other way and then send your drafts from the net connected computer.
