Having implemented and audited to both BS5750 (in the ‘good old days!) and also ISO 9000:2000 {in non technical environments} one thing that always raises interest – Why do people make things so complicated for themselves?
4 Questions:
1. Where are we now?
2. Where do we need to be?
3. What process is involved?
4. People responsible for managing outcomes?
SIMPLICITY – Add this to your process by having an understandable structure for both standard and quality required. It doesn’t need to list every person and their dog!
The complicated systems that reduce, instead of increase organisational effectiveness are worthless to employees {too time consuming}, shareholders {money lost through poor performance i.e ‘paper chasing’ etc} and also company {guess the outcome!}.
From a non – technical background, my personal involvement was producing systems in W98, converting documents in Adobe, then linking them all together with a process / procedural flowchart for all concerned to follow.
“Works for me!”
