Site trouble

By Tig2 ·
For the last 10 or so minutes, I have tried to get to a discussion thread. I have gotten a 404 easily 9 of 10 tries. Can only guess if this actually posts.

This has been on and off most of the time that I have been active. I can start capturing screens if that will help- been since 7:56, now 8:36 CDT.

Anyone else having this issue? I was having 404 errors trying to reach the home page for discussions. Had four 404s just trying to post this message. Does the server need a hug???

Not just you, Tig

by gadgetgirl In reply to Site trouble

Don't worry, it's not picking on you, I've been getting this all weekend, but today is the worst day so far.

Constant 404's - started around 07:00 UK BST, and is getting worse. It's just taken me seven goes to get the "reply" page.

Seems to be not just viewing posts, but especially replying to them. As soon as you submit, it 404's to your face, but puts the post up behind your back.

So I end up opening another tab, reloading the site, and checking to see if it's actually posted my reply or not.....

and I'm still being a good girl and replying, even though it's testing my patience.....

I agree, Tig. I think one of the servers is in great need of a hug. Beth's nearest - should we volunteer her?

GG's broken TR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by HAL 9000 Moderator In reply to Site trouble

First she causes a Power Outage at home and has now broken TR into the bargain.

She must be taking lessons from SWMBO as the broke one of the TV channels here recently & I only got the BSOD which is kind of confusing as it's not even connected to a computer let alone anything running Windows. Of course I did want to watch the F1 race but as SWMBO broke the TV Station I had to cry myself to sleep that night. Naturally she had it fixed the next day when she had to watch her soaps.

We're working on it

by Jay Garmon Contributor In reply to Site trouble

Our app servers are pegged at 98% right now. Not sure why. Team Engineering is on it. Usually, this happens when we get crunched by more than one site indexer. Of course, there's always a DoS attack, but that would be a first for us. Who could possibly hate TechRepublic?

Who's upset MS recently

by HAL 9000 Moderator In reply to We're working on it

That's who's responsible for your current problems.

Now you'll have to make everyone say only nice things about the new Windows Vista or they'll keep it up.

Not us

by Tig2 In reply to We're working on it

Just wanted you to know what the user experience was. While I have been experiencing this since Friday, it has been limited. On again, off again- that sort of thing.

I'll not bet that this reply gets through though.

It's JD's fault. The ladies will agree! :)
