Slow DOS apps under Win2K

I am currently running a 16-bit Clipper application, through DOS under Windows 2000 and am experiencing issues to do with the slow speed compared to a running the same app on a Windows 98 machine.
Could anyone suggest anything we can do that could speed up DOS apps under Win2K
