Slow to browse network and local drives?

By rturner ·
We're running W2K A.S. and Widows XP W/S. When we open My Computer, it takes a inordinately long time for the drives to appear, both local and networked drives. Anyone have a solution for this?

My first guess without knowing the ram or anything eles about your computer, would be to ask you if you have run any kind of maintence on your computer lately? Ya know the basic scandisk and defrag? Then I would ask you when you noticed this happening? Right after you installed a new program of somekind? It sounds to me as if you have far too much extra junk on there. You need to go through and delete temp files that are only used to set up whatever...you need to defrag, and scandisk. Getrid of anything you aren't using on a regular basis. Check your space, and also your settings.
