SMTP server

I have an Exchange 5.5 and we have a DSL connection, Our SMTP server is the one provided by our DSL provider. What I want to do is to setup My exchange server to be the SMTP server for the users. What is entailed in setting up the SMTP server. Can ours forward to our DSL providers SMTP?
