Software only launches when date is changed back to 2003

I have a new piece of software that is new right out of the box but it will not launch unless i change my date on my computer back to 2003. The company tech support said they do not still support this version and told me to buy the 2004 version. This version i have is new i just had it laying around and never got to install it untill today. Is there an entry in the registry that i can change in order allow it to launch with the proper 2004 date?
