Ok, I recommend for your evaluation that you think what you want protected, and how automatic you would like your service to be.

My personal choice is the above mention Zone Alarm (Pro). Out of the many firewalls I tested, namely the Norton Firewall, McAfee Firewall, and Zone Alarm, I decided on the Zone Alarm.

In deciding this, however, take into account at least these key components: Port invisibilty, net-sharing deffense measures, software-to-internet monitoring security, internet browser securing measures (IE cookie blocking, popup blocking etc.), mail security, overall invisibility, and finally how well your firewall keeps you informed.

On to the installation, it seemed pretty straight-forward, however I'll try and map it out for you as best as possible. Start by locating your setup file either on CD or hard drive. Double click it, now it will ask the location to where you want to install it; click Browse to pick a location, preferably where no user will likely disrupt it. Then type in ur name and Email address on the next page. On the third page if it asks for a clean install or upgrade choose the prior. Following, accept the license agreement and it should install after that. You should restart your computer after all the changes are made.

Along with the installation process I beleive a wizzard comes up to help guide you through your finally security choices after installation. Choose only what you think is neccessary for your situation. If you didn't get a password set, then once the program is up and running you may set one under Overview/Prefferences/Password.

Ok, hope that helps!
