    Software Testing

Is QA Tester a good career to start? Are there any other IT careers that you could recommend? I’m scared of making the wrong choice, cause my 30s are coming up and I don’t want to mess up my career change.

I’m posting this here because I am leaning towards QA testing and currently, I am working at “Quality Assurance Services and Software Testing Solutions- Ghost QA”, but some are saying that out of IT jobs, this one isn’t the best choice (lower salaries and slow growth). I don’t even know if that’s true and I thought that this is the best place to see if that’s true

I don’t know how well QA pays in your area, but I think that it would most likely be a more guaranteed source of work than many other fields. Programmers are in demand, but someone has to thoroughly test those programs to avoid potential crashes and/or vulnerabilities. I cannot say with certainty what the best option/field is best for you, I can only provide my own opinion on the matter.

How are you applying AI tools for this work?

Sometimes I find folk that have no exposure or work with AI tools.

It was December 2022 when I met with a good friend that does hardware and software development and they hadn’t tried out GPT in any form. After a few minutes the light bulb moment occurred and they saw the potential. Now over a year later the company has cut two or more outsourced jobs and apply AI to many tasks.

      Are you embracing this change?

Starting a career in QA Testing can be a solid choice, offering stable opportunities in the IT industry. However, if you’re open to exploring other paths, consider roles like software development, data analysis, or cybersecurity, which also offer promising prospects. Ultimately, choose a path that aligns with your interests and long-term goals, and remember, it’s never too late to pivot if needed.
