Some cool new technology: Microsoft Live Labs Photosynth

By robo_dev ·
Whilst surfing the web, I found a demo video on Photosynth. This is some really cool stuff. There's a (huge 5 meg) Active-X control that gets loaded. Works only with XPSP2 or Vista.

"The Photosynth Technology Preview is a way to view photos on a computer. Our software takes a large collection of photos of a place or an object, analyzes them for similarities, and then displays the photos in a reconstructed three-dimensional space, showing you how each one relates to the next."

Sorry, but I just have to ask; it's just sick way my mind works.

I wonder what happens if you feed it a couple dozen shots from various angles of the same naked girl.

Sorry; I don't know what came over me. Please excuse me while I slap myself all to pieces.

The coolest photosynth effect......

is when you zoom out to the big 'checkerboard' view, then click on one element, and all the squares to the 'funny exploding rearrangement' thing. That was one effect that actually got applause as this technology was unveiled at a conference at the TED conference.
