Some Sort of Counter

I seen a counter on someone’s site (not one I wanted) where it was live updating figures and such:
http://costofwar.com
Not one I want but does anyone know what this type of counter is called so I can find others that I may want to add to my site? An actual name for these type of counters maybe?
Thanks.
