Has anyone gotten a Sound Blaster Live card to work with Linux (specifically RedHat 6.1)?

I didn't seem to have a problem with mine. Quick question though, are you dual-booting into 98 or is this a straight Linux box? one thing you may want to do between reboots if it is a dual-boot system is to fully power down. I had no problems with RedHat 6.1 or OpenLinux 2.3 with any of my SB Lives on any of my machines.

Get the drivers from opensource.creative.com

Follow the instructions (as far as compiling your kernel etc.) because the default kernel installed by linux and standard compiled kernels do not work.

After 4 recompiles and a few BIOS setting changes I got mine to work.

Sound Blaster Live cards work well with ALSA sound driver. You can get it from http://www.alsa-project.org/
Also you can find Linux drivers for SB Live on creative web page at: http://opensource.creative.com/ but I haven't tested this drivers .

The problem I had with 6.1 ( and NT 4.0) not seeing my PCI SB 16 card was with a BIOS setting. The bios was not assigning the card an IRQ. WIn 95 and 98 would do the PnP thing and it would work.
Check your bios and see if you can set a "Legacy"PCI slot. It is something like that. After changing the setting the card woul be listed during the bios boot and would be assigned an IRQ. After that RH and NT would find the card and it worked ok.
