Sound troubles

By Funky_Monk ·
At the moment I'm having quite a bit of trouble with my sound card. Apart from simple sounds, it quite often stutters or doubles up when playing. I have no problem with music and most video but games are a problem.
My onboard sound doesn't have this problem. I've disabled my onboard sound in the Bios and device manager so it can't affect it. I've also tried updated drivers.
Its a simple Soundblaster 128 PCI card. Any help would be appreciated

If your microphone is set to be on during playback you will get echoes, which can sound like studdering due to the input piggybacking the output.

<Right-Click> on the speaker icon, choose properties and remove the microphone from the "playback" listings.
