Speeding up NT, 2K and XP shutdowns

If you have an issue with your shutdowns or restarts taking forever, especially with a long “Saving your settings” prompt on the screen, you’ll want to download and install Microsoft’s
User Hive Profile Cleanup Service:

  To get to the download: First they make you enable activeX, so they can install their client control, run the validation, and, after they verify that your software is not pirated, you have to type in the 25-character code from your COA. Could they possibly have made it more inconvenient? Typing with an upside down notebook is not that easy.

  I went to Intel’s site and found they have application accelerators that sped up shutdown by heaps.
  
  My 2K shuts down in a count of 4, not bad? I don’t think so anyway.
