Spelling & Grammar Check

By dflan98783 ·
I am at a wits end. I just started working with this new company and our systems are set up with Windows 2000 Professional and Office XP. As far as I can tell, we have the latest Service Packs
installed. I do a lot of editing and reports and
continuously use spelling and grammar checks. I have never seen this before, with the exception of several years ago with a virus called Wazzo on Word 97.

This is what happens:
When running spelling & grammar check in Word, it will display extra characters and words in the display window not visible in the document.

If I copy the text from the display window unto another document, it only shows the original text on the page. What it seems to be showing in the display window is previously typed text.

For example: I type everything I need to say then go back and edit and move things around. What shows in the display window is what I originally typed and the new edits. Although the
document only shows the current text.

A couple of places to look are Tools>Track changes and Tools>Options Save>Allow Fast saves

I have track changes checked and Allow Fast Saves unchecked.

How does this help with the spelling checker?

But if I uncheck track changes, any edits I must be seen by other to be verified. Are you saying that track changes cannot be used in conjuction with spelling check?
