Spool32 and spoolss.dll

By 5705947701 ·
There are a couple of things perplexing me today, well for the last week or so. At the company I work for we have 2 different printers and 2 very different machines with the same exact problem. While printing from programs any programs the printerjust drops off totally. And gives a General Protection fault. An error has occured in Spool32.exe and under advanced it says that it was in Spoolss.dll The same thing is happening on both machines. I have gone as far as reinstalling windows on both machines and setting the format to RAW. Neither one will print. The printers involved in this mess are a HP LASERJET 4000PCL and an Epson LQ-2170. If any one has an idea im toatlly stumped. Thanks in advance.
Mike

If you check out MS site Q167775 it will outline exactly what you are talking about.
I am also having this same problem with an HP4050 printer. You need to update the spoolss.dll to version 4.00.952 as per the report. The problem now is... where do we find it. It does not appear MS offers dll updates?

Solution new dll file

Hi Mike

I found the solution, you can download the driver at:
http://calypso.spaceports.com/~dllmania/index.htm.
Now it is a more update version 07/05/2001 but I tried it and it fixed the problem. (remember to rename the old one 'just in case'.)
