Spool32 Error

By dmcmullenii ·
Received an error when trying to print from Word 97. The error states that it had a page fault in the kernel32.dll. Also it prints out a page with either 1 or 2 hearts at the top of a blank page. I am using 98SE and a HP Laserjet 2100 printer with the latest drivers from the HP web site.

Turn Background Printing back on, under Word97 printing options. Tools, Options, printing tab.

Remove/delete the printer from your printers folder. If asked to delete files specific to the printer, answer Yes. Restart your computer. Run ScanDisk and Defrag on your hard disk. Restart the computer again. Reinstall the printer, with the updated drivers.

Good luck!

How much space is left on your C drive. When you print a job a copy of the job goes to the spool directory. If you system does not have enough space to write to the spool directory you will get this exact error.

Good luck!

Change the printer spooling settings to print direct to printer. This should do it.

Here is what we have had the best success with:

Place a shortcut to C:\windows\system\spool32.exe in the Startup Folder

also modify your win.ini
run= c:\windows\system\spool32.exe
