spooler subservice ****!

By gregakehurst ·
Hi all, please rescue me...

I'm running an HP pavillion latop with xp2 sp2, it is part of a wireless home network. I have a desktop on the netowrk which has a lexmark z615 printer installed. The printer is set up to share and I can see it in my netowrk places. i have clicked on connect and installed all the drivers on the laptop.

I get the spooler subservice app window, with microsoft's apoplogies for it closing.

i've done the microsoft registry fix, no success, i've deleted all the .shd and.spl files from the /spool/printers, stoppped and started the spooler and the lexbce spooler. i've downloaded and run the brother software recommended on the board

my next fix may involve something i regret

please god help.

Something to try

First, uninstall the printer from the notebook.
then use 'my network places' to browse to the printer. Double click on the printer icon through your desktop system.
It will ask to install the drivers.
It should work from this point.

sadly i've done that a couple of times, it installs the printer drivers fine but the spool simply refuses to work, i just keep getting the "spooler subservice app has encountered a problem and needs to close" window....

anything else? anyone!
