Spyware???

i'm havin dialup connection to internet.
Whenever i connect to internet, the calligraph shows there is always around 70kbps data being SENT even if i don't browse anything)just connected to internet). i tried spybot and someother anti-spywares and RegistryMechanic. Moreover i usually delete all private datas as soon as my browser is closed. all of them are of no use. still the problems is there. pls help me.

does sound like spyware.
does it happen in Safe Mode with Networking?
try your tools in that mode. try HijackThis and Adaware personal se
how is your antivirus

Get a firewall! If you have XPSP2 use that one, if not at least find a good free one.
when I first started using Zonealarm I saw probe after probe from hacks, finally turned off notification as I spent all my time acknowledging the attempt.

I do beleive it's something more than a spyware. You probably have a door open for someone.
You'd better get an antivirus and a firewall (eventhough I think it may be late for a firewall).
Eventually try to check your task manager to see if there's an unknown process running. Then you'll have your answer.

Remember on Dial up you have to send your User Name & Password so 70 K sounds about right to authenticate your connection to your ISP.

I think that you'll find here this is correct in that you are sending the correct Log On Data and then a handshake to make a positive connection.

Hal 9000 sounds right on target, but to be safe, I would also go to: http://www.overclockers.com/tips1166/ and do everything they tell you to. Most of the downloads are free (some are share/trialware), and it's worked to clean up every system I've tried it on.
