    Sql 2000 High memory usage

    Locked

    by tcruz ·

    Hello Everyone,
Does anyone know why the sql server uses a ton
of memory. I just read an article at Microsofts
Faq. They memtioned its by design.

    Is anyone else experiencing this?

I am running windows 2000 server svc pack 3.
    sql server 2000 standard edition.
Also running as a client server on the same box
    are:
    1. Veritas Backup
    2. Goldmine60 (sql version)
    3. Trendmicro office scan

Any setup or configuration ideas would be greatly
    appreciated.

    Thanks
    Tony Cruz

There are a whole bunch of memory options available to set in enterprise manager when you go to properties on server name.
You can tell it to use a certain amount of memory and physically reserve it. I would start by having a look at those settings.

Btw what spec is the server and what do you call a ton of memory?
