SQL7 & NT4

By pcu ·
I have had to uninstall and reinstall SQL7 + the 7.01 update after a harddrive became corrupted. On reboot I now get an error message stating that MSsearsch cannot find
sssutild.dll in any directories. I have scoured both NT4,SQL7 cd's etc for the dll, but unable to find it. Microsoft's
"Knowledge base" cannot help me either.

Any clues as to where to look?

Chances are, you had the text indexer setup on your initial install and the service is still in "Services"... Check to see if you have MSSEARCH (or some such) in the Services screen.. If so, you can remove it with Srvinstw.exe from the NT resource kit. Make sure that it is not partially active in the support services in SQL Enteprise Manager.

Also, you might want to run a regclean on your registry... It could help (make sure to back it up first).

Have fun!

The first answer looks good to me. If that doesn't work, try something else. Hope this helps.
