    SSDP Discovery service xp -pro

    Locked

    by jkelliott ·

SSDP terminates with error 711 which says “The account specified for this service is different from the account specified for other services running in this process. Access denied. I get error 711 which I can’t follow because microsoft needs me to have web access which I can’t get until I solve this problem Catch 22 there.

Right-click on My Computer -> Manage.
Expand Services and Applications -> choose Services.
Scroll down until you get to the SSDP Discovery Service. Right-click on it and choose Properties.
      Choose the Log On tab.
In Log On As section, the wrong account is listed for the service to run as. Now, most services run as LocalSystem, and the LocalSystem Account option should be checked.
But I looked on my XP box, and it has the NT AUTHORITY\LocalService account as the one that runs SSDP service.

So, try it as LocalSystem first. MAke the change, click OK, and reboot, see if that works. If not, then try and set it to run as NT AUTHORITY\LocalService but you are gonna have problems with the password. You can’t normally set the password using the normal tools, but I know there is a way to do that. If selecting LocalSystem doesn’t fix it, then post back, and we can go to Round 2.

      hope this helps
