SSDS / Citrix

By pcash ·
Has anyone heard of SSDS (Storage Service Delivery System)?
If so; is it a replacement for Citrix?

Well, not until you notified. But googling quickly points to a (the?) vendor, DNS Technologies.

Yes, it looks pretty much like a "managed client" technique and hence competing with Citrix. But it uses the own CPU and RAM of the workstation, and only borrows the disk and of course an 'image' from the central environment. More or less similar to managing PC's with a combination of Group Policy (total lockdown) and SMS.

Making the right choice in this thin-client field is not an easy job, and also depends on your situation. I've been publishing about 10-15 stories about this only the last year, unfortunately for most readers in a non-English language, and there is no simple conclusion...
