start up problems

I am getting message "Invalid system disk... replace the disk and press any key" can anyone tell me what i can do to solve it?

Go into the BIOS and verify that the hard drive is recognized. If it is and its reporting the correct size then you may have to re-install Windows.

Bios runs ok, cannot start windows from the disk as screen goes blank in every option including safe mode!!! Any Ideas?????

Bad hdd.

Absent some other fact which is missing, it sounds like a bad hdd. Check to see if it shows up in the bios. If it does, you might be able to reformat it and reinstall OS on the hdd, but if that doesn't work I suspect its corrupted.

If you are getting to Safe Mode, you ARE starting...

Since you are no longer getting the message "Invalid system disk... replace the disk and press any key".

Have you tried ALL the options in Safe Mode?

Check any optical / floppy drives.

Make sure they are all empty before booting up again.
