    Start up project advice

    by nicholasmartin1 ·

    Hi everyone,

I am currently in the process of starting my own app publishing company and hopefully at some point an in house development team. I am based in the UK, my first project is a form of a new type of social media for a niche market.

I am now on the stages of investment for my project, however I would like to ask if what’s the best way to look at development?

I have a few different app developers interested and I have had one full quote back at around the £100,000 mark

Would it be better for myself to go with one of these companies or try and find a few talented individuals and hire them for the work?

For me this is clear. A reputed company has the infrastructure, such as project management, design, testing and documentation standards, an orgnisation of specialist knowing how to work together, one single contact person responsible fot the whole project, and an established and proven way to transfer your product to a support department to support it and maintain during the long years it’s active after you accepted).

If you hire a few independent geniuses working from home, all of this is unproven or non-existent. That’s a recipe for disaster.

See that you get a few other quotes and then choose the best. Which isn’t necessarily the cheapest or the most expensive.

        Hi,

Thank you for you reply, I do agree with you for going with a reputed company, I was just trying to attack this situation from all the angles. But in this case the simple answer is most likely the correct one to go with in regards to the development of my project going forward.

I do plan on getting a few more quotes before a make any decision on going forward with a development company.
