starting sql

guys am new in database management in sql and i have tried to get started with it but am unable. i dont know the syntax that a person can use to start it up. by contrast i know the syntax of creating databases and tables as per my prio study of ms access.
any way can a person connect java with microsoft access database?

Bit lost

access is a file you don't start it up, you start an application that uses the file.

as for the other a wee google gives

Startin SQL

SQL usually starts as a Service. If it is not set to AutoStart, look in SERVICES for the SQL Service and you can manually start it there.
