Stop user from receiving/sending mail

By rauguste ·
I would like to know are there anyways to create in account in MS Exchange 2000, but the account should only have the ability to view the address book. In other words, I'd like the user to be able to open the mailbox, view the address book, but notbe able to send or receive e-mail. I'd like to know if this can be done. I thank all in advance.

Stop user from receiving/sending mail

You can do this by making the user NOT the owner of the mailbox, and then just giving that user the permissions level you want. Basically, you would create a new user and mailbox, then open that mailbox on a workstation (logged on as the new users)and give the original user whatever level of permissions you want. Then create an Outlook profile on the original user's machine that opens that mailbox. Hope this helps!
