Strange behaviour after virus removal

By Windranger ·

My computer got infected with winupgro.exe virus and here's what it has done:
- prevented Norton Antivirus to load at startup
- prevented ZoneAlarm to load at startup
- blocked my web browsers (IE, Firefox) to the internet
(Outlook Express was working).

I deleted the virus and its copies manually but strange thing, now the sympthoms remain the same!

So the browsers can't connect to internet, and NAV and ZA don't run.

I tried to run the instalation kits again, to repair the damages but they can't be run by the system, which says they're not valid 32 bit applications!!!

I don't know what to do next... any advice appreciated.

Well firstly you run the Installation or Recovery

From Booting not from the running OS.

Using the Recovery Disc's will also result in the complete Loss of Data and installed Applications as well.

Much more importantly just removing this file doesn't clean the system you need to totally remove all instances and References to in in the entire OS most people use a Utility like Malwarebites

From another PC download and install Spybot, update it and copy the the installed folders to a USB Stick.
Restart the PC in Safe Mode, navigate to the USB stick and run Spybot.
Download Spybot - Search & Destroy and install it. Update it.
