Strange MS Word Issues...

By roy | greenlight ·
Please advise if there is another...more relavant discussion thread for this topic.

I have a client who is having issues with Word (Macintosh) Docs. Intermittantly, the graphics are displayed as, "fuzzy with lines" and the table are missing. I had them send me a copy of troubled file, and opened it Word for PC and found what they had described when they opened it on a PC. The graphics (some, not all) were represented by red 'x's (broken) and the tables were invisinble (there, but not showingup.)

They are using a poor naming convention, including multiple '.'s in the name for abbreviated word. I've checked the KB @ MS and saw that AutoSave as well as a large number of graphics can cause similar problems.

Anyone have any insight? These are top-end G4 macs, with the latest office software; problem is recently and I'm relatively sure it's not virus related.

TIA - roy@enertial.net

Which version of MS Office please

Roy,
Which version of MS Officer are your colleagues using please ...

Office 95 / 97
I have seen a similar problem, where the customer is attempting to edit information that was originally obtained from a website, (or where a colleague had attempted the transfer of the file only to find it was too large .. then posted it upon an intranet site), & the user has chosen to display "placeholder" instead of graphics - hence the broken X ...

Sadly I cannot provide information upon the appearance of the graphics
