Stuck in the outbox

I am using Microsoft Exchange Version 5 client. I have an email in the outbox italicized. when I try to delete it I get MAPI spooler has already begun transmitting message. I can not receive nor send mail. I have ran scanpst and it fixed a problem. Just not this one. I am at a loss, please help
