Do not want to do that. Too many emails to loose. Any other ideas would help. Do not want to destroy this mans email. has a lot of info needed. Is there a way to import mailbox to Outlook 6? We are going to go to that eventually. some have it now, but only on laptops running win2k pro.

Re-installing Outlook will not lose his e-mail. E-mail resides within the PST file (and it is not touched even by an uninstall) or on the server until it transfers down to the PST. If you are concerned that his pst file will be lost, then back itup.

The program files have been corrupted or the Scanpst.exe would have resolved the entire issue.

backup his pst file, uninstall Outlook, reboot, reinstall Outlook and Re-add his PST file, point to it on the hdd when you add the pst file.

The other alternative is to copy is PST file to a CDR and put it on another computer.... update the read-only attribute (uncheck it) and then add it back to Outlook. Because scanpst.exe fixed the problem it saw, the program is the only other problem you can have. Reinstall Outlook or copy the pst.

Archive the user's entire .pst file. Be sure to set the options for archiving to archive all items regardless of auto archive settings. Select an "Archive items older than..." date that is in the future. One day is usually sufficient. Afterward, point Outlook to the new archive file to confirm its contents. I would then delete the old .pst and rename the archive .pst using the old file name.
