su is not working in suse10

By eldhom ·
Hi,
When the home directory field of a user in the passwd file is null the su command is not working properly. When that user trying to do su, suse10 is giving an output like user doesnot exist, but in suse9 it is working fine. Why in suse10 it is not working? Is there any solution for that or how to handle such a situation?

Did you add the user account to the sudoer file?

su issue

No, I didnot add it to sudoers file. I just created a user, modified the homedirectory field to null in passwd file, then try su to that user.

Sounds to be a bug.... OR not, on another site. :)
