Sun Solaris reinstallation 8.0

I have Sun Solaris 8.0 which I think is corrupted,
I need to get it back but did not want to repartioning which can cause losing important data.Any method to reinstalled the O.S like in Windows without losing important data and reformating.
Pls advise.

Depending on where your data is located...

You did put /export & home directories on a separate partition, right?

You can reinstall, which will obviously blast most of your settings - but it all really depends on how you set the machine up to begin with...

i.e. give us more info and we might be able to help.
