I have a Toshiba Tecra 8000 laptop. I have loaded SuSE Professional
version 7.0 on it. Most of the hardware is working except the sound
on the machine. According to Toshiba the model that I have uses a
Yamaha 3D OPL3-SA3 chipset. The drivers for this do not seem to work
at all. What should I use as settings for the chipset? What about
manual setup, what settings do I use for manual setup? I am a
newcomer to Linux/Unix world, so please be as specific as possible as
to what I can dodo to get the sound system up and running.
I tried alsaconf with no luck. It does not find the chipset on my
Yamaha 3D OPL3-SA3 sound card. I also tried lspci -vv from command
line no luck either. The sound card doesn’t show up in the lspci
command that I entered.
